HOUSTON, TX — Christopher Walker II, a son, was shot and killed near the Galleria area on Thursday night. The Houston Police Department reported that the shooting occurred just after 6 p.m. on Westheimer Road, near Post Oak Boulevard, in what appeared to be a robbery. Though someone rushed Walker to an emergency clinic on San Felipe Street, he did not survive.
Christopher’s death has left a deep void in the hearts of his family and friends. His mother, Natalie Lee-Walker, is struggling to come to terms with this devastating loss. In an exclusive interview, she spoke of her heartbreak, describing the profound emptiness his absence has left in their lives.
“We have to live life without him forever, forever,” Natalie said tearfully. “It’s a huge vacancy that will never ever be filled by anything, anyone. What is hurtful is the presence, his physical presence, is vacant. That space is vacant. His seat at the table is vacant. His room and the things that he loved doing, and the people he enjoyed seeing—they will no longer get to hear that laughter.”
Christopher had just celebrated his 30th birthday on Monday, January 13. His family shared that he had spent the entire week celebrating with various friends. His infectious laughter, warm presence, and kind-hearted nature were cherished by everyone who knew him. His mother, Natalie, expressed how Christopher was more than just her son; he was a bright light that brought joy to everyone around him.
“Christopher was a very affectionate, loving, gentle, kind-hearted gem,” Natalie said, her voice full of emotion. “Every room he walked into, every person he met, he always left them better off than the way he found them. He always made everybody feel important. He wanted everybody to feel loved and that they had purpose.”
Tragically, Christopher’s week of birthday celebrations was cut short on Thursday night, the same night he was shot. His family is heartbroken by the senselessness of his death. Natalie expressed her disbelief and sorrow that someone would take her son’s life over a possession.
“Just tragic and horrific and unnecessary,” she said. “How do you value a person’s life as insignificant, so insignificant that you would take it for a possession that they have? Why would you think that it was okay to devalue someone’s life? He meant something. He was valuable, more valuable than the possession that he had, and there has to be accountability for that.”
Christopher’s friends and community remember him as a young man full of potential and promise. He attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and excelled academically, nearly sweeping all the awards at an Academic Awards Ceremony at St. Thomas More. His mother, Natalie, was deeply involved in his schooling, always looking out for others as well, even purchasing graduation rings for his entire class.
A former classmate’s parent reflected on watching Christopher grow up, remembering him as a bright and motivated child. “You realize that you have to participate in preparing them for the future. I enjoyed watching young Christopher grow up. His mother always thought of others. This is a devastating loss for our community,” they said.
As the Walker family prepares for his Celebration of Life, they are asking for prayers, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time. His service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at The Fountain of Praise in Houston, Texas.
“Thank you all for the amazing prayers, love, and support for our beloved son, Christopher. He is truly missed, and our lives will never be the same,” the family shared.
In the wake of this tragedy, Christopher’s family and friends are calling for justice, hoping that his death will not be in vain. As they mourn, they remember the joy, laughter, and love that Christopher brought into their lives—memories that will continue to keep his spirit alive even in his absence.
